Converted Key West Blue Flamingo Resort schedules opening

Following the conversion of two retro motor lodges in Key West, Fla., the new Blue Flamingo Resort is poised to open its doors in July.

Owned and converted by BRE Hotels and managed by Highgate Hotels, the resort has been re-imagined by Virserius Studio. Located in New Town, the property will offer 245 ocean view, island or tropical accommodations with sand dune-inspired tones.

Blue Flamingo Resort guestroom layouts range from Deluxe Queen and King to Junior Suite and Suite and surround The Backyard Pool & Social Club, which has two pools and programming led by an in-house activities concierge. Regular programming includes events such as daily happy hours; island music nights with live music featuring local artists; movies under the stars nights; rum & reggae nights; flamingo Fridays parties and a karaoke cabana.

The lobby has striking light fixtures, eclectic furnishings and pops of color, all setting the tone for a fun and playful atmosphere.

The resort will introduce a flexible event space with a pool table, vinyl record player and murals designed for social gatherings and celebrations. It also will have a retail store with a curated selection of hotel-branded keepsakes, essentials and locally inspired goods that reflect the Key West aesthetic, according to the company.
