21c Museum Hotels to open in Indianapolis

21c Museum Hotels is set to open the brand's largest gallery space to date in Indianapolis' historic city hall building. When it opens in 2028, the multi-venue contemporary art museum will showcase globally and regionally relevant artists in site-specific installations and rotating curated exhibitions throughout the year.

The 21c Museum Hotel Indianapolis will have installations designed specifically for the museum hotel’s unique spaces, along with curated group and solo exhibitions that reflect the global nature of art today. Each of the 156 guestrooms, including 20 suites, will have original artwork and 21c’s dedicated Art Channel on the television.

The museum hotel’s three food and beverage destinations will include a signature, locally inspired restaurant; a lobby lounge and bar; and a rooftop bar. 21c Indianapolis’ will have 16,000 square feet of gallery space for events.

The property is located on the Indianapolis Cultural Trail, a Legacy of Gene and Marilyn Glick, connecting the established Mass Ave Cultural Arts District to the fast-growing Market East District. The project will convert an historic Old City Hall building, set to house the museum hotel’s gallery spaces and restaurant and bar. An arcade will connect it to the newly constructed hotel tower. Part of a mixed-use development, the site will also have 8,000 square feet of retail space set to revitalize this corner of downtown Indianapolis.

21c Museum Hotel Indianapolis will be managed by Ennismore and is developed in partnership with TWG, a real estate development company headquartered in Indianapolis.
