Sonesta to bring James brand to Miami

Sonesta International Hotels is set to build The James Hotel & Residences Downtown Miami, an $850 million development that is expected to open in January 2028. The new 82-story tower will have approximately 336 fully furnished and decorated residences, a spa, private cabanas with plunge pools and views of Miami, snow and rain rooms, restaurants (including the highest elevation luxury bar and restaurant in the Americas) and a four-story private club. Members of this club will also have access to the James Hotel in South Beach.

“The James Hotel & Residences Miami represents an exciting opportunity in our efforts to expand Sonesta’s presence in top 25 metropolitan areas in the U.S. in vibrant, high-demand destinations,” Brian Quinn, Sonesta’s chief development officer, said in a statement. “This unique project embodies the modern sophistication and dynamic energy that will define The James brand, offering an unparalleled luxury experience for guests and residents alike, situated in one of the most important markets in the world.”

The planned façade of the tower is inspired by the elegance of an interlaced bracelet, seamlessly blending sophistication and artistry into the structure's architectural identity. The intertwining forms of the bracelet will be reflected in the building’s fluid lines and intricate exterior, symbolizing unity and strength while exuding a sense of luxury and refinement.

This agreement was executed with Mint Developers, a South Florida real estate developer. “We are excited to collaborate with Sonesta on The James Hotel & Residences Downtown Miami, a development that embodies the vibrancy and sophistication of Miami,” said Daniel Berman of Mint. “This project reflects our dedication to elevating downtown areas, creating premier destinations that seamlessly blend luxury living with dynamic hospitality experiences.”
