The Ambassador Hotel of Waikiki in Honolulu has become the first hotel in Hawaii to join the Tapestry Collection by Hilton following a renovation.
Now operated by Highgate, The Ambassador's newly renovated, midcentury design looks to celebrate the modern spirit of Waikiki with subtle nods to the property's founding origins dating back to the 1960s, according to the company. The 368-room hotel—formerly known as the Romer Waikiki at the Ambassador—has a range of accommodations from two-bedroom suites to lofted bunk-bed rooms, as well as views of the Pacific Ocean, Diamond Head and the island's mountain ranges.
“We're thrilled to be the first property in Hawaii to join Tapestry Collection by Hilton, a brand that reflects our dedication to personalized hospitality rooted in a strong sense of place," Brandon Kaya, general manager, The Ambassador Hotel of Waikiki, said in a statement. "Our team is passionate about creating meaningful connections to local culture. It's not just about where you stay—it's about how you experience Waikiki, and we're proud to share the spirit of the island with our guests."
An Inside Look
Interiors have a tropical-inspired palette reflecting Oʻahu's natural views. The hotel's lanais, cozy lounge areas and private retreats are designed to elevate the experience while a custom lava rock wall in the lobby pays tribute to Hawaii's volcanic landscape. The exterior preserves the hotel's iconic heritage.
Onsite programming and amenities include the Waikiki Swim & Social Club, a retro-inspired pool and cabana deck; Beach Candy Waikiki, which offers beach rentals and bike cruisers; and Favorite Son, the hotel's indoor-outdoor dining destination.
