Populus developer to discuss Green Cities in fireside chat

In a fireside chat at this year's The Hospitality Show, Jon Buerge, president of Urban Villages and one of the guiding visionaries behind the Populus Hotel, will explore how sustainable urban development and eco-forward hospitality are reshaping cities and boosting long-term profitability. The session will show how hotels can lead the way in building greener, more resilient communities.

The Populus hotel is located in downtown Denver and opened last year. The building's distinctive facade is inspired by the patterns found in Colorado’s native Aspen tree, the Populus Tremuloides. The hotel also incorporates sustainable features like low-carbon concrete, recycled materials and a "one night, one tree" program to offset its carbon footprint.

Developed by Urban Villages, the 265-room property is the first carbon-positive hotel in the U.S. The eco-conscious design plan includes a commitment to plant trees equivalent to over 5,000 acres of forest, offsetting a carbon footprint that equals nearly 500,000 gallons of gas and removing additional carbon dioxide from the atmosphere.
