California hotels, others appoint sales, marketing leaders

A number of hotels—including several in California—have appointed sales and marketing leaders in recent weeks. Here are some names to know. 

Black Desert Resort

The Black Desert Resort and the nearby Red Mountain Resort in southern Utah appointed Brandon Hendricks vice president of sales and marketing.

Most recently, Hendricks was vice president of commercial strategy for Kohler Hospitality. Prior to that, he held ranks as director of sales and marketing at Mauna Lani (Auberge Resorts Collection), The St. Regis Deer Valley and The St. Regis Houston. In his new role, Hendricks leads overall commercial strategy for Black Desert Resort and Red Mountain Resort including sales, marketing, revenue management, catering/events and reservations. 

Dream Inn Santa Cruz

Dream Inn Santa Cruz, Calif., has appointed Lydia Bates director of sales and marketing.  

A graduate of California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, Bates has held senior leadership positions at the Hotel San Luis Obispo, Inns of Monterey and Chaminade Resort & Spa in Santa Cruz, all in California. 

Flamingo Resort and Spa and the Sandman Hotel 

Chelsea Borba has been promoted to complex director of sales at the Flamingo Resort and Spa and The Sandman Hotel in Santa Rosa, Calif. In this expanded role, Borba will oversee sales operations for both properties as they transition to the Hilton and Choice hotel brands, respectively.

Borba joined the team in June 2021 as a sales manager and advanced to area sales manager before being promoted to senior sales manager in July 2022.

Hotel Seville NoMad

In New York City, Hotel Seville NoMad, Unbound Collection by Hyatt, appointed Marcus Ong director of sales and marketing.

Ong most recently was director of sales, marketing & events at the Hyatt Regency Greenwich, where he led a $40 million renovation of the historic property. 

The Mills House

The Mills House, Curio Collection by Hilton appointed Madeline Ravenna-Kavanagh its new director of sales and marketing.

Before joining The Mills House team, Ravenna-Kavanagh held sales positions at hotels including The Miami Beach Edition, Cadillac Hotel & Beach Club and Westin St. John Resort & Villas. She additionally worked alongside the Hilton Brand Team on property level initiatives.

Novotel Miami Brickell

Novotel Miami Brickell appointed Juan Quiroz director of sales and marketing. Quiroz has worked at Marriott, Accor, Hilton, Starwood and independent hotels throughout the United States, Caribbean and South America. 

Perry Hotel Naples

The Perry Hotel Naples, a newly opened 160-room boutique property in North Naples, Fla., appointed Yosie Crespo director of sales and marketing. With 30 years of experience in luxury hospitality, Crespo’s experience includes leadership roles with Marriott, Accor and Hilton. 

Sheraton San Diego Resort

Sheraton San Diego Resort appointed Olivia Tull marketing director. Tull’s background spans brands including The Ritz-Carlton, Loews Hotels and Marriott International, along with work for three NFL teams, a major theme park and a national sports broadcast network. 

The Statler

Melissa Egan has been named director of sales and marketing at The Statler, a Curio Collection by Hilton hotel managed by Aimbridge Hospitality. The Statler, in downtown Dallas, was built in 1956 and is on the Historic Hotels of America registry. 

Egan has previously held key sales leadership roles across renowned brands including Sonesta, Marriott, Renaissance and Sheraton. While at the Renaissance Dallas Addison, she grew the corporate national account segment and increased lead volume. As director of sales and marketing at Dallas Marriott Suites, she steered the hotel to exceed budget and revenue generation goals.

TownePlace Suites Middleburg

McKibbon Hospitality appointed Courtney Wahl as director of sales at the TownePlace Suites Middleburg, Fla. 

Wahl is a new addition to the McKibbon Hospitality team, most recently serving as general manager of Hampton Inn & Suites Middleburg. She brings more than 10 years of sales and operations experience to her new role, having held corporate sales manager, catering sales manager, and front office manager roles at Hilton properties across the state.
