Essex Hotel Management hires Christopher Wietig as its new director of business development. In this newly-created role, Wietig will spearhead Essex’s efforts to expand its portfolio — aiming to meet the company’s stated goal of doubling Essex’s managed properties within five years — by strategically identifying and securing new contracts with hoteliers seeking a hands-on, results-driven third-party management partner.
His responsibilities will include driving portfolio growth, implementing advanced business development tools, overseeing contract negotiations and cultivating strong relationships with owners, investors and industry stakeholders.
Wietig brings nearly 20 years of diverse experience spanning enterprise sales, marketing, real estate development and asset management across hospitality, mixed-use, industrial and multi-family sectors. Prior to joining Essex, he served as director of business development with a Buffalo, N.Y.-based company with a diversified real estate portfolio.
“We are thrilled to welcome Chris to the Essex team,” Barbara Purvis, president of Essex Hotel Management, said in a statement. “His deep expertise in business development and leadership within service-oriented industries makes him the perfect fit to drive Essex’s focused, strategic growth. Chris will help ensure that as we scale, we maintain the warm, hands-on partnership with our clients that defines our reputation.”
This announcement follows recent leadership enhancements, including the promotion of John Kattato to chief operating officer in June.
