Kessler appoints hotelier John Luckett as president of hospitality operations. Formerly Kessler’s chief operating officer, Luckett will be returning to the brand expanding on his previous 15-year tenure and overseeing the company’s hospitality, sales and marketing, information technology, human resources and operations sectors. With more than 30 years of experience in the industry, his responsibilities will contribute to the continued growth of operational strategies and corporate, commercial and human capital across the entire portfolio.
“John’s legacy with us speaks volumes, from his leadership in opening the Grand Bohemian Asheville to setting new standards of excellence across our brand. His remarkable journey here—marked by accolades, operational achievements and an unwavering commitment to guest satisfaction—underscores his passion and dedication to the Kessler ethos,” Mark Kessler, president and chief operating officer of Kessler’s Design and Development, said in a statement. “As Kessler continues to expand and innovate, John’s expertise will be instrumental in shaping the future of our portfolio and ensuring that each property remains a destination for creativity, luxury and unforgettable experiences.”
Luckett’s three decades of expertise reflect his continued success in the hospitality industry, contributing to the growth of boutique hotels and repositioning full-service resorts, while accomplishing guest satisfaction, associate engagement and operational excellence. Prior to his current role, Luckett served as the chief operating officer at MasterCorp, Inc where he implemented effective strategies for hotel and laundry services alongside managing operations focused on excelling performance, strategic execution and resource management. During his role as general manager, the Grand Bohemian Asheville was recognized as Marriott Autograph Collection Hotel of the Year in 2012. Luckett also received the Marriott Autograph Manager of the Year award and was honored three times as Kessler’s General Manager of the Year.
“As a family-owned business, every aspect of the Kessler brand feels like home, from the inspiring, warm properties to the dedicated Grand Performers across the portfolio,” Luckett said. “The Kessler family has shaped who I am as a hotelier throughout my career and my combined background as a general manager and as a member of Kessler’s leadership team will provide a dual perspective for the continued growth of the brand, while also paving [the way for] success at each property.”
