Choice opens 500th extended-stay hotel

Choice Hotels International opens its 500th extended stay property, an Everhome Suites in Glendale, Ariz.

Across the hospitality industry, Choice has the fastest-growing economy extended stay portfolio and leads in the economy new construction category, according to August 2024 STR Pipeline Data.

At the end of second quarter, Choice had nearly 400 hotels in the pipeline across four extended stay brands: Everhome Suites, WoodSpring Suites, Suburban Studios and MainStay Suites.

Targeting High-Demand Markets

Its 500th property, the Everhome Suites, marks the brand’s entry into one of the Southwest’s high-growth regions. Located along the New River with scenic views and a riverwalk, the hotel is near Luke Air Force Base, Arizona State University West Valley Campus, State Farm Stadium, Desert Diamond Casino, St. Joseph’s Westgate Medical Center and more. The property will serve the area’s booming infrastructure projects and industries, providing much-needed longer-term lodging options.  

With the addition of Glendale, Choice has six Everhome Suites open across the country and over 65 in the pipeline including over 20 under construction, with more than 15 expected to open within the next 12 months. WoodSpring Suites is on track for another record opening year with a forecast of 25 openings by year-end. The company also opened 13 MainStay Suites and Suburban Studios between Jan. 1 and September 2024 in the key markets of Las Vegas; Moreno Valley, Calif.; Orlando and Tampa, Fla.

The development of its largest brand, WoodSpring Suites, set the blueprint for the company’s extended stay portfolio, which includes a lean staffing model and optimized operational efficiency to help owners maximize gross operating profit. By refining its extended stay brands with continuous feedback from its owner and operators, the company has created a model designed for rapid conversions in as little as three to four months for its MainStay Suites and Suburban Studios brands via proprietary innovations like Kitchen and Lobby in a Box and efficient new build prototypes with Everhome Suites and WoodSpring Suites.

Everhome Suites Glendale has 122 rooms and was developed in collaboration with the Highside Companies and is managed by Superhost Hospitality. Path Construction Southwest was the general contractor for this project. Everhome Suites offers the comforts of home along with many other convenient amenities, including:
