Mountain Modern opens second location

Crystal Creek Capital, a Jackson Hole, Wy.-based private equity real estate investment firm, opens Mountain Modern Sedona, marking the second location for the adventure hotel brand. Following an extensive property-wide renovation and transformation of the former Sedona Real Inn & Suites, Mountain Modern Sedona is a design-forward yet functional basecamp for the modern adventurer. With 89 oversized rooms, studios and suites spanning across eight buildings, the property also has an outdoor pool and hot tub, communal lobby, and The Den, a restaurant-meets-social hub designed for pre- or post-adventure drinks and bites.

“We are thrilled to introduce the Mountain Modern brand to Sedona,” said Robert Nolan, co-creator of the Mountain Modern concept and COO of Crystal Creek Hospitality, in a statement. “Mountain Modern is an approachable and playful brand, one that is ultimately rooted in the local experience and destination, and we hope that our property can be a place for travelers and locals alike to recharge, connect and dive into everything that makes Sedona so magical.”

Design

Designed by Phoenix-based architecture and design firm RSP Architects, Mountain Modern Sedona upholds the brand’s functional yet contemporary, destination-inspired aesthetic. Most studios feature balconies and fireplaces in addition to a thoughtful layout and premium amenities from MALIN+GOETZ. With a practical-meets-playful design with calming juniper green accents, features tailored to the modern outdoor enthusiast include custom gear walls that offer year-round storage for hiking boots, walking sticks, backpacks, and more. Drawing upon the destination's health-focused travelers, two suites were transformed into wellness-centric retreats, each featuring a dedicated studio equipped with a Peloton bike, yoga gear and exercise equipment that can be further enhanced by utilizing online fitness programs.

Inside the bright and airy lobby, a digital screen behind the front desk greets guests as it displays iconic videos of the Sedona landscape, captured by acclaimed outdoors and nature photographer Ryan Sheets. His iconic photography can also be found throughout the property and behind the headboards in all the guestrooms – paying homage to Sedona’s stunning surroundings. Additional artwork found in the rooms and throughout the property also echo the soul of Sedona; from subtle nods to classic Westerns filmed nearby, vintage details honoring the region’s peach-farming roots, and upcycled elements reflecting beloved outdoor hobbies like biking and photography, all add layers of storytelling.
