Placemakr to open California hotel-apartment property

Placemakr, a flexible-use hospitality and multifamily operator, is set to open its newest pop-up hotel, Placemakr Santa Clara, Calif., in partnership with SummerHill Apartment Communities.

The hybrid hotel-apartment concept has 109 fully furnished one- and two-bedroom units in Silicon Valley.

Placemakr Santa Clara has a pool, coworking and conference spaces, indoor/outdoor lounges, a game room, EV charging stations, a pet wash station, a gaming courtyard, a fitness studio and a resident lounge.

“Our pop-up experiences offer guests the unique chance to experience luxurious, apartment-living units on a nightly or weekly basis,” Jason Fudin, CEO and co-founder of Placemakr, said in a statement. “It’s a win-win, providing guests with spacious, high-end accommodations while bringing hospitality services to residents and a great building vibe during the initial lease-up phase.” Placemakr Santa Clara is the second pop-up property to launch in Northern California, following a previous location in San Jose.

“This landmark community reflects our commitment to smart housing growth with contemporary design, smart home technology, and a focus on sustainability,” said Doug McDonald, president of SummerHill Apartment Communities. “We are grateful to have partnered with the City of Santa Clara and Placemakr in bringing this innovative concept to the area. In addition to the benefits of providing guests with beautiful accommodations in a desirable location, partnering with Placemakr to operate the pop-up hotel within our property allows us to provide our residents with added hospitality benefits.”

The property is slated to open on Feb. 24.
