A pair of all-inclusive resorts—Secrets Playa at Esmerelda and Dreams Playa Esmerelda—are poised to make their debut in the Dominican Republic later this summer. These boutique-style, sister properties will be the first resorts to open in this destination and have prioritized sustainability. Both resorts are located within a village-style hub, which has shopping, dining and entertainment.
Secrets Playa Esmerelda is an adults-only, 500-room resort with private balconies or terraces, ocean and garden views, boasting an elevated all-inclusive experience, according to the resort. The culinary offerings include 10 restaurants and six bars spanning French, Mediterranean, and Dominican flavors.
Secrets Spa, meanwhile, is designed to represent tranquil retreat with 12 treatment rooms with massages, facials, a hydrotherapy circuit and a full-service beauty salon. With over 15,000 square feet of flexible meeting areas, the resort also includes a grand ballroom and multiple breakout rooms accommodating up to 1,000 guests.
Dreams Playa Esmerelda is a family-friendly getaway designed for multi-generational travelers, according to the resort, which features 500 rooms and suites, three pools, a waterpark and programming for all ages.
Dining and entertainment options include nine restaurants, nightly shows in the onsite Theater, kayaking, beach volleyball and more. The hotel offers a number of eco-conscious activities ranging from learning about the destination’s endangered species at the turtle sanctuary on-property, to boating along the unspoiled coastline and exploring nearby adventures, such as Montaña Redonda. Double connecting rooms offers guests double beds and the option to connect to accommodate larger families or groups traveling together.
