Hotel Equities opens the AC Hotel Wichita Downtown. The new property joins HE’s portfolio of lifestyle hotels. The property is located in Wichita’s historic Old Town district, bringing a modern sensory experience to one of the city’s most iconic buildings. The hotel is owned by Spartan Downtown, LLC and managed by Greenwood Hospitality, a strategic partner of Hotel Equities.
“This hotel opening represents more than just a new addition to our portfolio, it reflects HE’s ongoing commitment to developing exceptional properties in dynamic markets,” Hotel Equities CEO Ben Rafter said in a statement. “This thoughtfully designed hotel brings a fresh energy and elevated guest experience to Wichita’s Old Town, and we’re proud to partner with the owners and Marriott to contribute meaningfully to the city’s continued growth and revitalization.”
The hotel is housed in the historic Brown/Broadway Plaza Building, originally constructed in 1929, which quickly became a central hub for local businesses—even serving as home to the Russell Stover Candy Shop for over 50 years. Reimagined as a 118-key destination, the adaptive-reuse project blends architecture with contemporary design—hallmarks of the AC Hotels by Marriott brand.
The hotel is near INTRUST Bank Arena, Century II Convention Center, and the city’s arts and innovation districts. The AC Hotel Wichita Downtown is the second AC Hotel by Marriott to join HE’s portfolio of managed hotels. With this addition, HE now operates three hotels in Wichita and five throughout Kansas.
