Emergency readiness takes center stage during major events, says Kings III expert

In a recent interview with Kings III Emergency Communications, Clarisa James, National Vertical Sales Director of Kings III Emergency Communications, shed light on a critical but often overlooked aspect of hospitality during major events like FIFA tournaments: emergency preparedness. While hotels typically focus on visible guest amenities such as check-ins and poolside service, James emphasized that high-demand moments reveal whether a property’s emergency systems are truly ready. Elevator usage can triple during these events, and response times may suffer due to local traffic congestion. She stressed the importance of extending coverage to areas like stairwells, pools and parking garages — all of which carry higher risks if systems fail.

James also urged hotels to separate emergency calls from the already overwhelmed front desk. Routing calls directly to trained professionals not only speeds up response times but also lets hospitality teams stay focused on guests. She highlighted the need for multi-language support, especially during international events, noting that in moments of panic, people often revert to their native language. “If your team can’t understand them, your response stalls and your guests lose confidence,” she said.
